On Sunday, October 11, the Charli Mae Foundation hosted the fourth annual Charli Mae Shield at Endeavor Health Fire Pitch in Chicago, welcoming Féileacáin Fathers from Ireland to take on Bear FC in what was a very special afternoon for everyone involved.

This year's event marked a significant milestone, with Bear FC playing its first official match. What started as a small group of dads getting together for a game of soccer has continued to grow into a community built around friendship, support, and remembering our children.

Having Féileacáin Fathers travel from Ireland to be part of the occasion made the day even more meaningful. The connection between both groups goes far beyond soccer, with a shared understanding of loss and the importance of having people around you who understand.

The afternoon was about much more than what happened on the field. It was about bringing families together, remembering the children who are no longer with us, and showing that even through grief, there can be moments of joy, laughter, and connection.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the event possible, from the players and their families to our volunteers, supporters, and sponsors, including O'Hagan Meyer. The support we received throughout the weekend was a reminder of just how special this community is.

For Bear FC, this was just the beginning. We hope to continue growing the group, creating opportunities for dads to connect, and building a community where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their soccer ability or experience.

Most importantly, the Charli Mae Shield continues to give us an opportunity to honor and remember our children while supporting families affected by pregnancy and infant loss.
